Adam "Scooter" Timm
Instructor for Landmark Since: 2011
Courses Adam Instructs: Currently Wilderness First Aid, but I hope to teach Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace and ACA courses in the future.
What are your "special" skills that you bring to Landmark? 13+ years in the outdoor education field as a field instructor and administrator in a variety of program areas. I've been a WFR since 1998 and have responded to pretty much everything we teach from simple ankle strains to anaphylactic allergic responses. That and I'm a Yankee...it's hard to beat some Yankee ingenuity and craftsmanship.
What other outdoor companies have you worked for? North Carolina Outward Bound School, Boston University Sargent Center for Outdoor Education, Alpine Environmental Education Center, Alpine Towers, Wilderness Medicine Institute
What is your actual day/night job? This is one of them! I split my time between Landmark, NCOBS, WMI and Alpine Towers right now.
What are your favorite outdoor activities? Mountain biking, whitewater canoeing, sea kayaking, sailing, splitting wood, riding motorcycles, desert racing
Why do you work for Landmark? I love to teach and with Landmark I ge to share subject matter I'm passionate about.
Any career or personal highlights you'd like to share? I love to embark on personal, sometimes painful, long-distance endurance adventures...a solo sea kayak paddle the length of the Everglades in less than 24 hours, a 5 day bike ride of the entire Blue Ridge parkway. I find its the best way for me to know my limits, think deeply about my life and remember what it's like to be a student.
