Course Overview: Expectations, Gear List, Schedule, etc.

Location: Calleva, Main Lodge, 101 Springvale Rd, Great Falls VA 22066

Tuition: $825 Tuition Only; $875 Tuition with camping; $935 Tuition with bunkhouse.

Meals:  Students camping or lodging will have access to a shared kitchen on site. Cookware is provided, bring your own mess kits. Calleva will NOT be providing meals.

Lodging:  Available for additional fee. Campers, bring your own tents and equipment. Indoor lodging is in a shared bunkhouse; provide your own sleeping bag or linens.

SCHEDULE:

• The online modules will open on February 24. Expect to spend 10-15 hours each week on the online portion of your NOLS HWFR and ensure you finish assignments prior to the start of the in-person skills portion.
• Arrive by 7:45 AM on March 17, for the in-person skills portion.
• The skills portion runs 8AM-6PM daily with one evening session held on Day 3.

PREREQUISITES:

• Complete all release and medical forms and return them to your course host.
• Review the NOLS Hybrid WFR Course Overview so you are fully prepared.

NEXT STEPS:

• Landmark Learning will enroll you in the NOLS CANVAS platform which will trigger additional communications from the NOLS Wilderness Medicine office. The first will be a generic course confirmation email.
• The second should arrive the day the modules open. It will include your CANVAS login information. If you have difficulties, contact canvas_help@nols.edu for assistance.
• Complete all online modules prior to arrival. Come rested and prepared for a great course!
