Available for student use is a standard refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hot water urn. Most students bring camp stoves to cook within a budget under our outdoor cooking pavilion.
Lodging:
Camping (bring your own gear). Camping is on a pad near the parking lot and classroom. You may also camp in your vehicle, but there is no hookup or space for RVs. Any overnight stay grants access to the kitchen amenities and indoor showers.
You may arrive between 12PM-9PM the day before the course starts for self check-in. Housing assignments and the grounds orientation will be on the desk at the front of the classroom. Class begins promptly at 8AM.
Students must be packed and moved out prior to 8AM on the last day of the course.
About This Course:
This course will explore various outdoor spaces each day that are within an hour of where we will basecamp, at the Landmark Learning Downstream Campus. Students may need to provide their own transportation to and from each site.

Meals: Meal plans available (see above fees).
- Group meal plans will accommodate both omnivore/carnivore (meat eaters) and vegetarian diets. For vegan, gluten free, and other dietary restrictions, check with us, we may be able to accommodate some special diets.
- If you don’t want to purchase the meal plan, please bring your own food, pots & pans, cooler, ice, camp stove, utensils, etc. to prepare your own meals (in other words, bring the same kitchen items as if you are car camping.) Picnic tables are provided.
Lodging: Included
- Lodging in rustic cabins, with heaters and ceiling fans, is offered at no extra charge. Cabins are located around a central bath/shower house. We plan to place no more than 2-4 people per 10 bunk cabin at Wekiwa Youth Camp (probably 2 people), so there will be plenty of room, and you can choose your cabin mates if you’d like. (We will have try to have separate cabins available for those who snore. It will be possible to give some people their own cabin.)
- No motor homes, tents, or camping trailers are allowed at the Wekiwa Springs State Park Youth Camp, where this course will be taught. However, if you book far enough in advance, you may be able to get a site for a motorhome nearby in the Wekiwa Springs State Park campground, or at Kelly County Park 5 miles away. The campsites/motorhome sites book up very quickly for this time of year, so you need to reserve far in advance.

Town is 10 minutes from our base, with ample restaurants and grocery store options. Available for student use are two standard refrigerators, two microwaves, coffee pots and hot water urns, as well as three double-burner induction stoves with required magnetic pots/pans. Cups, plates, bowls, and silverware are also available for student use. Students will each have a cubby to use for dry food storage and use the three-sink system for washing/sanitizing at the end of meals.
Lodging: $135 Camping; $225 Bunkhouse
Camping (bring your own gear) or bunk space (bring your sleeping bag and pillow) is available by reservation. These lodging options are located by foot, up the hill behind the Cane Creek Lodge. Campers are invited to use the showers in the Student Lounge area.
Bunkhouses are 4 max to a room, as availability permits. Each room has its own bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Each pair of rooms shares a common connecting space and covered front porch for downtime and community.
Students may also opt to camp in their vehicles in the parking area. The camping fee applies, and they may use the campers’ showers in the Lodge. No electric or water hookup is available.
You may arrive between 12PM-9PM the day before the course starts. Housing assignments and the grounds orientation will be posted in the classroom lobby. If you cannot arrive by 9PM, you may arrive at 7:45AM on the first day of your course. Class begins promptly at 8AM.
Students must be packed and moved out prior to 8AM on the last day of the course.

- The NOLS Hybrid WFR course incorporates 3 weeks of online learning followed by 5 days of in-person skills training. The online portion must be completed PRIOR to arrival for the in-person skills portion of the course.
- Online platform opens on February 19, 2024.
- In-person skills training runs March 11-15, 8AM-5PM daily, with evening sessions on Day 2 and Day 4.

Available for student use are two standard refrigerators, two microwaves, coffee pots and hot water urns, as well as three double-burner induction stoves with required magnetic pots/pans. Cups, plates, bowls, and silverware are also available for student use. Students will each have a cubby to use for dry food storage and use the three-sink system for washing/sanitizing at the end of meals.

Camping (bring your own gear) or bunk space (bring your sleeping bag and pillow) is available by reservation. These lodging options are located by foot, up the hill behind the Cane Creek Lodge. Campers are invited to use the showers in the Student Lounge area. Students may also opt to camp in their vehicles in the parking area. The camping fee applies, and they may use the campers’ showers in the Lodge. No electric or water hookup is available.
Bunkhouses are 4 max to a room, and you can select gender-specific or gender-neutral designation as available. Each room has its own bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Each pair of rooms shares a common connecting space and covered front porch for downtime and community.
You may arrive between 12PM-9PM the day before the course starts for self-checkin. Housing assignments and the grounds orientation will be posted in the classroom lobby. If you cannot arrive by 9PM, you may arrive at 7:45AM on the first day of your course. Class begins promptly at 8AM.
