This course will take place in the backcountry on a backpacking trip.

Tuition: $695
Meals:
Course fee includes instruction, curriculum and teaching materials, group equipment, a subscription to the Leave No Trace Tracker and a one-year Leave No Trace Individual Membership. The group will spend the night in the backcountry on Days #2-3, but students are responsible for their own lodging on Day #1. Meals Day #2 Lunch through Day #4 Lunch, but all other meals are on your own.

Meals:
Not included – town is 10 minutes from our base, with ample restaurants and grocery store options.
Available for student use is a standard refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hot water urn. Most students bring camp stoves to cook within a budget under our outdoor cooking pavilion.
Lodging:
Camping (bring your own gear). Camping is on a pad near the parking lot and classroom. You may also camp in your vehicle, but there is no hookup or space for RVs. Any overnight stay grants access to the kitchen amenities and indoor showers.
Arrival is from 12PM-5PM the day before the course starts for orientation and health screening. Housing assignments and the grounds orientation will be on the desk at the front of the classroom. If you cannot arrive by 5PM, you may arrive at 7:45AM on the first day of your course for health screening. Class begins promptly at 8AM.
Students must be packed and moved out prior to 8AM on the last day of the course.

This course will explore various Frontcountry spaces each day that are within an hour of where we will basecamp, at the Landmark Learning Downstream Campus. Students may need to provide their own transportation to and from each site.
Teaching Topics will be assigned on a first-request basis. Indicate your top 3 choices when you register:

The course will take place in Lees-MacRae College’s Shelton Learning Commons.
There are on-campus trails for biking, hiking, and trail running as well as a discount golf course. The Elk River and Mill Pond on campus are good locations for fly fishing. Equipment rentals are free to course participants and include discs, mountain bikes, fly rods, and more.
Academic Credit: Outdoor Recreation Management offers 2 credit hours for this course. This is optional. The course number is ORM 321.
