To register, visit USF Wilderness Trainings & Certifications on or after December 1 and find the WFR-R course listed in chronological order within the rest of our offerings. You will then need to create a guest account and pay online to register.

Location: University of South Florida at Riverfront Park

Meals:  Not included – bring your lunch and snacks.

Lodging: On your own, but camping is available at USF Riverfront Park.

Camping at the park is free for everyone in the course. There is running water and bathroom facilities, however no showers. Email Steven for more information.

Additional Details:

CPR is not provided with this course. NOLS Wilderness First Aid supersedes the training of First Aid. Not all employers recognize NOLS WFA – check with your employer regarding their acceptance of the higher WFA standard before enrolling – NOLS does not provide a First Aid certification alone.  

Certification Info for NOLS WFRs: Only NOLS WFR students can attend a NOLS WFA for recertification purposes. If you are attending this course to recertify your NOLS WFR, be sure to alert the course host. You will take a written exam at lunch on Day 1 and a practical exam at lunch on Day 2. Prepare by reviewing all curriculum updates, skills videos, and take the online practice exam available at nols.edu.
